The Forest Research Institute\u00a0developed from 1961 to 1971, then divided in to three institutes (Forestry Institute 1972-1988, Forest Industry Institute 1974-1988, and Forest Economic Institute 1981-1988); and finally consolidated in to The Forest Science Institute of Vietnam from 1988 to now.<\/p>\n<p>On Nov. 25th 2011, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2099\/Q\u0110-TTg on the structure and operation of the Vietnamese Academy of Forest Sciences (VAFS) as a special scientific organization under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD). The MARD promulgated Decision No. 1149\/Q\u0110-BNN-TCCB dated May 18th 2012 on stipulating functions, duties, powers and organizational structure of VAFS and Decision No. 1656\/Q\u0110-BNN-TCCB dated July 16th 2012 on stipulating the regulations and the operation of the Vietnamese Academy of Forest Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>On December 31, 2025, the Forest Inventory and Planning Institute was merged and became a subordinate unit of the Vietnam Academy of Forest Sciences under Decision No. 5928\/Q\u0110-BNNMT issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.<\/p>\n<p>On December 31, 2025,\u00a0The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmen promulgated Decision No 5929\/Q\u0110-BNNMT on stipulating functions, duties, powers and organizational structure of Vietnam Academy of Forest Sciences (VAFS) as a special scientific organization under the Agriculture and Environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>VISION<\/strong><br \/>\nDeveloping the Vietnam Academy of Forest Sciences to a world-class advanced research organization that conducts scientific research and develops technology to support forestry development, increasing the contribution of forestry sciences to socio-economic development and environmental protection in the country and region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MISSION<\/strong><br \/>\nImplement scientific research, technology\u00a0transfer, post-graduate training, international cooperation, consulting and\u00a0business services to support sustainable\u00a0forest management and forest-related\u00a0industries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Add: Duc Thang, Bac Tu Liem, Hanoi Tel : 84.24.3838.9031;\u00a0 Fax : 84.24.3838.9722 Email : vkhln@vafs.gov.vn &#8211;\u00a0Website: www.vafs.gov.vn The Forest Research Institute was precursor of the Forest Science Institute of Vietnam, which was established in 1961.
