STAMEQ’S VISION – A CRITICAL TURNING POINT TO TRANSFORM STANDARDS AND QUALITY METROLOGY ACTIVITIES

On the morning of June 14, 2024, the Quality Assurance and Testing Centre 2 (QUATEST 2) organized a specialized seminar on STAMEQ’s vision for the coming time.

The seminar was attended by Dr. Ha Minh Hiep, Acting Director General of the Commission for the Standards, Metrology and Quality of Viet Nam (STAMEQ), along with nearly 200 public employees and employees, participating both in person and online.

Dr. Ha Minh Hiep – Acting Director-General of STAMEQ, presented the STAMEQ Vision

According to Dr. Ha Minh Hiep, five pillars in STAMEQ’s vision to build the foundation and promote the STAMEQ tradition over the past 60 years have been proposed.

First of all, the issue of spirit is the issue of spirit, when we approach and respond to work with a good spirit, we will be passionate and love the job. The Committee has introduced a political study program to foster the spirit and revolutionary ethics of party members, especially leading party members. The spirit of dedication, sharing, companionship, and consensus is a very important method towards the common goal of STAMEQ.

Second, is people, with party members starting from technical, technical people cannot lack knowledge. Therefore, it is essential to build STAMEQ personnel who are knowledgeable, and particularly, eager to learn. Learning is a tool to go out into the world and solve difficulties, we cannot rely on outdated methods and thinking to address the new challenges posed by modern trade agreements, as well as global issues of sustainable development.

Third is culture, the Committee is an organization with cultural diversity, passed down through multiple generations. We have solidarity and our own identity, when participating in external activities, we always show that we are STAMEQ employees. The Committee also sets the requirement for new cultural values alongside traditional ones— values like unity, effort, and diligence. So, what is the new culture? It is a culture of continuous improvement, the spirit of improvement, the 5S philosophy, and the Kaizen philosophy.

Fourth is action, we dare to change outdated practices, address shortcomings, and revise policies we have recently issued if they are inadequate. These are crucial and positive actions. We dare to think, dare to do. It requires everyone to work together in implementation. Several methods have been selected to express actions that embody the distinct identity of STAMEQ.

The fifth pillar is initiative. We have chosen National Quality Infrastructure as the path for STAMEQ to consolidate, develop, and go out into the world. The National Quality Infrastructure includes standards, metrology, conformity assessment, inspection, and testing policies, these issues will create a unified entity, and thus National Quality Infrastructure from the perspective of STAMEQ has become the core of the National Quality Infrastructure. The Commission’s National Quality Infrastructure is a social issue of concern such as Halal standards, solar panels, greenhouse gases, etc. These are issues that need to be addressed. To deploy National Quality Infrastructure, we also need to deploy working groups.
