Vietnam wins eight medals at the 2026 Asian Open Water Rowing Championships

On June 7, Vietnamese open water rowing team concluded the 2026 Asian Open Water Rowing Championships with an impressive record of 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals.

Vietnam's two gold medals were won by Hoang Vo Kieu Loan in the Women's U19 Single Sculls (W1X) event and the duo of Ngoc Minh Chau and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh in the Women's U16 Double Sculls (W2X) event.

In addition, Vietnamese sea rowing also won 4 more Silver Medals. Ngoc Minh Chau continued her outstanding performance by finishing second in the U16 girls' single sculls (W1X) event. The remaining three Silver Medals went to the pair Luu Duc Thanh Long - Duong Quang Phuoc in the U19 boys' double sculls (M2X) event, the pair Pham Thi Thuy Dung - Mai Thi Y Nhi in the U19 girls' double sculls (W2X) event, and the pair Nguyen Lam Kieu Diem - Tran Thi Anh Tuyet in the Open girls' double sculls (W2X) event.

Vietnam's two bronze medals were won by Nguyen Thi Anh Tho in the Women's Open Single Sculls (W1X) and by the mixed doubles crew of Nguyen Thi Anh Tho and Khuc Tien Dung in the Open Mixed Double Sculls (Mix2X).

The medals underscore the rapid progress of Vietnam's beach rowing, a discipline that has received focused investment only in recent years but is already producing encouraging international results.

Notably, sea rowing will officially be included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. This opens up opportunities for Vietnamese rowing to aim for participation in the future Olympic Games.
