Vietnam U19 defeat Myanmar U19 to move top of group A

On June 4, Vietnam U19 delivered another dominant display, beating Myanmar 5-0 to strengthen their grip on Group A and move closer to the ASEAN U19 Championship semi-finals.

Vietnam started brightly and created several scoring opportunities from the opening minutes. Their pressure paid off in the 28th minute when Tan Dung opened the scoring following a well-worked corner kick. Just before halftime, Cong Hau doubled the advantage to give Vietnam a comfortable 2-0 lead.

After the break, head coach Yutaka Ikeuchi’s side continued to dominate possession and control the game. In the 49th minute, Van Bach finished off a pass from Cong Hau to make it 3-0. Duy Khang then converted a penalty in the 62nd minute to extend the lead, before substitute Thien Phu completed the scoring with a header from a corner kick in the 84th minute.

The victory gives Vietnam U19 six points and a goal difference of +7 after two matches, strengthening their chances of reaching the semifinals. In their final group-stage match, Vietnam will face hosts Indonesia U19 in a decisive encounter to determine the Group A winner.
